I’m going to say it because it needs to be said and a lot of people are afraid to say it. Not all cops are like the cops who killed Michael Brown and Eric Garner. As the news trickles out tonight, it sounds as if the murderer of the two NYPD officers was mentally ill and shot and seriously injured his girlfriend before he went looking for cops to kill and may have had a general grudge against all police. I’ve seen posts on Twitter insinuating that people outraged about the murder of the two policemen are racists.
As far as we know right now, these two officers were assigned to an anti-terrorism detail. They were ambushed in a cowardly manner and shot in the head. We don’t even know the true motivations of the killer yet. All we know is that two New York City police officers were murdered and we all have every right to mourn their senseless deaths.
Darren Miller, the cop who killed Michael Brown, should have had a real trial, not just a grand jury. The copy who used an illegal choke hold to kill Eric Garner should be fired and sitting in jail right now.
But not all cops are Darren Miller and the cop who killed Eric Garner.
Like my mother. My mother worked for the police department for 26 years. She started as a patrol officer, was injured on the job a couple of times, became a dispatcher, then a records clerk.
Not all cops are what all cops are being made out to be and sorrow over the deaths of the two NYPD officers tonight doesn’t make me or anyone else a racist. It also doesn’t change my opinion that Darren Miller should be preparing for a jury trial and the officer who killed Eric Garner should have been fired for excessive force and then charged with Mr. Garner’s death.
Not all cops.
