National Poetry Month – 4/11

Standard

An Ode to My Home Town

The trouble with small towns

Is that the town

Becomes a false face

For false people

Who care more about the length of their neighbor’s grass

Than their neighbor.

Long ago

Someone said something about removing the log from your own eye

It’s been lost on the person gleefully whispering on the telephone

About the sick old woman who didn’t go out in the rain

To bring in her trash can.
