I have been flipping through novels, trying to understand the proper use of ellipses. Of course, when you read different novels, you get a dose of the author’s style. George R.R. Martin frequently uses ” . . . ” in the body of sentences and at the end. (GRRM . . . bodies . . . never mind.) Barbara Kingsolver uses the three ellipses in the same way but sometimes finishes a sentence with ” . . . ,” and that, I had never seen before I started reading Flight Behavior.
